Finally, a Suitcase Without That Annoying Interior Hump

As you can imagine, I've had my share of suitcases over the years. However, I've never really taken a chance on suitcase brands other than what you'd find in a regular big box store.

LEVEL8 is a relatively young luggage company, founded in 2008. Interestingly, the company didn't begin primarily as a suitcase manufacturer. It started by making protective bags and cases for Apple MacBooks, with an emphasis on combining functionality and design.

The company eventually expanded into luggage, bringing that same design-focused approach to travel products. LEVEL8's designs have also received international recognition, including a Red Dot Product Design Award in 2019.

After spending some time with their Adventure Check-In suitcase, I can see why the company's approach to design caught my attention.

Hands down, the feature I like most is the handle.

Maybe this seems crazy but the first thing I noticed and loved was the wide handle. Most suitcases have telescoping handles that extend through the center of the bag. That creates the familiar raised "hump" inside the suitcase, which takes up valuable packing space and forces you to pack around it. As a person with mild O.C.D. - this drives me insane.

The Adventure takes a different approach with its wide handle design, and I really like it. The interior is much flatter and more usable, which makes it easier to actually take advantage of the suitcase's considerable depth.

And this is a deep suitcase.

The 28-inch size (which is what I have) gives you plenty of room, making it particularly useful for longer trips when you need to pack more than just a few days of clothes. I've found that the combination of the size and the way the interior is designed makes it much easier to use the available space efficiently.

Then there are the wheels, which are another major highlight for me. They roll incredibly smoothly, and the suitcase is easy to maneuver. That's especially important when you're trying to get a large suitcase through a hotel lobby.

The exterior of the suitcase is slick and smooth but feels solid. I'm not a frequent flier (hence "Bill On The Road") so I'm not worried about it getting tossed around at the airport. The rectangle size will actually fit great in the trunk of my vehicle and free up some precious cargo space I didn't have with my previous suitcase.

The wide handle eliminates that interior hump. The deep design gives you a lot of usable packing space. And the wheels make a large suitcase surprisingly easy to move around. And if you're using it for road trips, the deep design gives you a bit more space in the trunk of the car!

Bottom line: If you're looking for a large suitcase with plenty of usable packing space, smooth-rolling wheels and a design that solves one of the most annoying problems with traditional luggage, the LEVEL8 Adventure 28-inch is worth a look.
